<description>Unfortunately the conference finished yesterday, and I don&#039;t seem to find much time to blog except when at these things (which seems ironic, as conferences are generally so hectic)
Hopefully I will manage to post more on this, as it is a fascinating area. Many questions spring to mind about the conclusions from both talks blogged here - including:
What are the tipping points for dumping the local OPAC? Is it to do with amount of digitised (freely?) available material, or the growth of alternative finding aids (we all become part of World Cat?), related to the size of the library?
What is the likely timescale for these predicted changes?
If this is the long term view, what short and medium term measures and strategies should we put in place?
What if we don&#039;t have any unique materials - should we close the library?
When will universities be ready to accept that they don&#039;t need a library? Will this ever be the case?

<description>An interesting series of posts - and I presume that there is more to come ;-)
In the context of this post and the last I quite like the idea of &#039;disclosure&#039;.
http://orweblog.oclc.org/archives/001084.html
I try and say something about some catalogue directions at:
http://www.ariadne.ac.uk/issue48/dempsey/
In a ac.uk context, I note that type of issues that are being surfaced here have not been a concern of JISC for some time. Many of them do indeed lend themselves to the kind of &#039;system-wide&#039; attention that JISC provides.
