Mark van Harmelen presented on this, but I didn&#8217;t manage to capture it all. Essentially he considered User Activities<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Discovering\n<ul>\n<li>searching via terms and tags (personalisation or not)\n<li>browsing, as a result of recommending (via human and computer choices)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<li>Collecting &#8211; bookmarking\n<li>Consuming &#8211; read\/use\n<li>Enhancing &#8211; adding comments, dialogues and tags\n<li>Creating content, repurposing, remixing\n<li>Publishing &#8211; explicitly making visible\n<li>Curating &#8211; by, possibly in quest different ways by users and library\/information professionals\n<li>Collaborating &#8211; for learning, teaching and research<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>And some of the associated problems<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Control and cultural imperatives\n<li>User base FE, HE, post formal ed, LL\n<li>Trust and data quality (are the reviews &#8216;worthwhile&#8217;, could you allow updates to catalogue records? etc.)\n<li>Data longevity\n<li>Task support and workflow\n<li>Technical implementation problems\n<li>Cost (particularly search engine cost)\n<li>Hand-off in the context of national data security<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Some really interesting discussion around data and control &#8211; how we should approach this.<\/p>\n<p>Definite agreement we need to open up data and &#8216;give up&#8217; control, but not complete agreement on a lot of other things (should we be aiming for aggregation or distribution of data? should there be a &#8216;UK HE&#8217; search engine?).
