Would you be interested?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve been at ALA for the last few days, and as usual, time out of the office has triggered some ideas. The one I&#8217;m most excited about is that I think we could do with having an event in the UK that is about bringing together interested people and doing interesting stuff with libraries and technology.<\/p>\n<p>The kind of thing I&#8217;m thinking of is along the lines of the recent &#8216;Mashed Museums&#8217; event which Mike Ellis blogged about at <a href=\"https:\/\/variousbits.net\/2008\/06\/27\/mashed-museum-2008\/\">https:\/\/variousbits.net\/2008\/06\/27\/mashed-museum-2008\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m also inspired by the annual &#8216;Hackfest&#8217; that happens in conjunction with the &#8216;Access&#8217; conference in Canada &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.libraryjournal.com\/article\/CA332564.html?display=Digital+LibrariesNews&amp;industry=Digital+Libraries&amp;industryid=3760&amp;verticalid=151\">described by Roy Tennant<\/a>, and the various B<a href=\"http:\/\/barcamp.org\/\">arcamp<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Unconference\">Unconference<\/a> events that spring up quite regularly now.<\/p>\n<p>At this stage, I&#8217;m looking for some interest and answers &#8211; please leave comments below about the idea and if you want, answer the following questions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Is this a good idea?<\/li>\n<li>Would you come?<\/li>\n<li>Are weekends or workdays better?<\/li>\n<li>Would you be worried about not being &#8216;techie&#8217; enough to participate?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Here&#8217;s hoping it&#8217;s not just me sitting in a room with my laptop&#8230;<\/p>\n<div id=\"scid:0767317B-992E-4b12-91E0-4F059A8CECA8:7b90ac49-5139-41a2-a45b-5decefe520e2\" class=\"wlWriterSmartContent\" style=\"display: inline; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\">Technorati Tags: <a href=\"http:\/\/technorati.com\/tags\/mashlib08\" rel=\"tag\">mashlib08<\/a><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve been at ALA for the last few days, and as usual, time out of the office has triggered some ideas.
