Also see briefing paper <a href=\"http:\/\/inf11briefingoct2010.jiscpress.org\/preservation-of-complex-visual-digital-materials-and-environments\/\">http:\/\/inf11briefingoct2010.jiscpress.org\/preservation-of-complex-visual-digital-materials-and-environments\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>There areas of focus for this strand:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Simulations and visualisations<\/li>\n<li>Gaming environments and virtual worlds<\/li>\n<li>Software based art (see <a href=\"http:\/\/inf11briefingoct2010.jiscpress.org\/preservation-of-complex-visual-digital-materials-and-environments\/?paragraph=26#26\">http:\/\/inf11briefingoct2010.jiscpress.org\/preservation-of-complex-visual-digital-materials-and-environments\/?paragraph=26#26<\/a>)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Note that there is a focus on <strong>visual<\/strong> materials, and this strand aimed at bigger projects with longer timescales (looking to fund one project for up to \u00a3130,000 to be completed by end by 31st March 2012)<\/p>\n<p>The scope of this work is not desinged to try and tackle the entire spectrum of digital material that are often referred to as &#8216;complext digital objects&#8217;, for example the follow are <strong>NOT<\/strong> in scope:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Digital literary editions<\/li>\n<li>General websites contain embedded multimedia compontent<\/li>\n<li>Database driven business and factual information systems<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The objectives that must be addressed by the project are listed at <a href=\"http:\/\/infrastructurecalloct2010.jiscpress.org\/appendix-i-preservation-of-complex-visual-digital-materials-and-environments\/?paragraph=12#12\">http:\/\/infrastructurecalloct2010.jiscpress.org\/appendix-i-preservation-of-complex-visual-digital-materials-and-environments\/?paragraph=12#12<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Neil outlines a &#8216;plausible model&#8217; for desinging the collaborative sturcture of this project (although this is just one possible model):<\/p>\n<p>Have a lead partner (one eligible to bid of course), working with 1 or more &#8216;domain&#8217; partners who might run symposiums on specific areas &#8211; e.g. one for each of the three areas noted above, these domain partners feedback to the lead partner who synthesises and reports.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This blog post is written on behalf of JISC.
